A year after it launched the 1100 tie-in , Acer has introduced the follow-up, otherwise known as the Acer Ferrari 1200 ultraportable.
Not a million miles away from the original in looks, the Acer Ferrari 1200 throws in a couple of extras like an anodised-metal touchpad and ventilation that 'echoes the exhaust pipes of F1 cars', but I'm guessing you're not overly concerned. It's got that Ferrari badge - and that's pretty much all you need to impress in the airport lounge.
But if you do manage to open the thing up, you'll find a decent notebook within, powered by an AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core mobile processor and offering up an M780G chipset, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a SATA hard drive, a slot-load optical drive, Dolby Home Theater sound, Wi-Fi and a backlit 12.1-inch screen.
How much? Well, we suspect considerably more than your average 12.1-inch laptop, but a lot cheaper than the four-wheeled version. So be thankful for small mercies. Look out for it in the next couple of months.
