For Alvarion (ALVR) today, it’s a split decision - one upgrade, one downgrade.
RBC Capital’s Daniel Meron cut his rating on the stock to Sector Perform from Outperform, trimming his price target to $6 from $10. “We are increasingly concerned about potential credit tightening that may slow WiMax deployments,” he writes. “Our downgrade is driven by macro rather company specific factors and we’d be glad to be proven wrong and reflect our long-term positive view.”
Craig-Hallum’s Anthony Stoss , on the other hand, upgraded the stock to Buy from Accumulate, citing an improved risk/reward following a recent pullback. He writes that a pending stock repurchase plan could provide a catalyst for the shares. Stoss is not a believer in mass market adoption of WiMax, but he says that the company can continue to grow steadily with its fixed-wireless business. Stoss, by the way, cut his price target on the stock to $6, from $10, the same shift Meron make.
