Amazon Kindle hits the iPhone

 
Well, just weeks after the much-heralded Kindle 2 http://www.t3.com/news/amazon-kindle-2-now-official?=38065 was announced by Amazon, the company has sneaked out the Amazon Kindle App, effectively turning your iPhone into a mobile library. The app is free, but the books certainly aren't. They cost around $9.99, although you can 'sample' the first chapter of a book for free. Unfortunately, you can't download them directly to your phone, instead you'll need to buy via a PC or Mac, then transfer over. Although Kindle owners can sync content between iPhone and the standalone device. Obviously 20/20 vision is required to read War and Peace on the daily commute, but adjustment of text size is available, even if it does mean a sentence per screen and RSI from page turning. But there's a bigger problem than that - we don't 'officially' have Kindle in the UK, which means we don't know if the app is going to make it to the UK app store.
