Amazon.com (AMZN) this week is expected to unveil a new, larger-version of the Kindle , this time targeted at newspaper and magazine readers. AllThingsD noted earlier today that Amazon has sent out invitations to a press event to be held Wednesday at Pace University in lower Manhattan.
In a feature story on the potential for e-reader devices to save the newspaper industry, The New York Times this morning said that some news organizations, including the Times, are expected to be included as part of the introduction of the new gizmo.
The Wall Street Journal reported on plans for the larger size Kindle in mid-April.
Will the Super Kindle, or Mega Kindle, or Kindle Royale With Cheese, or whatever they choose to call it, save the newspaper industry? Seems doubtful to me. But I’m glad to see them trying.
AMZN today is up 82 cents, or 1%, to $79.78.
