CES 2009: LG's 47" Digital Photo TV doubles as photo frame
LG has revealed a ground breaking new HD TV technology in its new Digital Photo TV. The 47” goggle box doubles as a photo frame when in standby, allowing you to view your digital snaps when you’re not glued to the latest Doctor Who.
LG claims that when running in Photo mode, the set consumes between 10 – 15% of the power required for normal functions. Although it’s a clever idea, the obvious flaw in the concept is that when you’re not actually watching TV, you probably aren’t in the room to see the photos being displayed, which makes it a bit of a waste of electricity.
On the other hand, if you aren’t too dedicated to unplugging your set each time you leave the room, at least showing off the odd family photo is better than wasting power on a small red light and a blank screen.
