Ford CEO Alan Mulally is not an obvious choice for a keynoter at the Consumer Electronics Show . For one thing, you have to wonder if maybe he doesn’t have something better to do, like lobbying Congress for a bailout, or something. But nonetheless Mulally is here in Las Vegas to give a keynote this afternoon. And I’ll be blogging it live right here.
I would note that with about 10 minutes to go before he is supposed to show up on stage, the ballroom where he is speaking - the space which filled up for yesterday’s keynote by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer - is embarrassingly empty. I doubt there are 200 people in here. And most of them are either reporters or Ford employees. People here want to see gadgets; and when you think gadgets, Ford is not a company that springs to mind.
