D7: Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo Demos The N97

 
Nokia (NOK) CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo this afternoon is being interviewed on stage at the D: All Things Digital conference by the Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg . Here are some of the takeaways from the discussion: OPK says they have 35%-40% of the world market; there are 1.1 billion people today carrying Nokia phones. He says the competition used to Motorola (MOT), but now is Samsung , LG , Apple , Google , Microsoft and others. He also partners with some of them, including Microsoft for Exchange Combination and service together is a solution, he says - you need to focus on solutions. Walt is asking about their position in software in handheld computers, competing with Google and Microsoft and Apple. OPK notes  they have been doing open operating system - Symbian - for yeats and years. They bought Navteq for digital maps - which is content. Sometimes content user generated like a voice call, but often music, games, maps, and you need access to the content. He ... (link)
