Sprint Nextel (S) shares are sharply higher today ahead of an FCC meeting tomorrow which is scheduled to consider the proposed merger of the company’s Xohm WiMax service with Clearwire (CLWR) .
Last week, the company gave up on the concept of selling its Nextel business.
Sprint today is up 87 cents, or 27.8%, to $4. Clearwire shares today have jumped $1.22, or 14.1%, to $9.89.
