HP launches the dv2 small-form notebook

While the world waits on Sony's netbook announcement , HP has raised the bar for small-form notebooks with the launch of its dv2 range. Ok, it's no netbook, but with a size of just 12.1 inches, a thickness of less than an inch and a weight of just 3.8 pounds (1.7kg), we're sure you'll find this as easy to carry as any budget offering. But with the dv2, you don't have to sacrifice all that's great and good about the modern-day notebook. Powered by the new AMD 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, the dv2 offers up an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3410 graphics chip, 4GB of memory, 500GB of storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an integrated webcam and Vista Home Premium (not XP) for your operating system. If that's not enough, HP is also throwing in an external Blu-ray player and some HDMI out connectivity, should you want to get added value as a high-def movie player. Expensive? Well, if HP prices this at the quoted US price, we're talking £475. Suddenly that Sony announcement seems a little less relevant. ... (link)
