Killer DS consoles at large

Fake Nintendo DS handhelds are hitting the UK - and they could serve up a nasty surprise on Christmas morning. HM Revenue & Customs has apparently seized hundreds of counterfeit Nintendo DS and DS Lites, all of which came complete with dangerous power adapters. So when you plug in your new purchase, you could be one step from a meltdown or even worse, setting the house ablaze. The DS consoles are being sold for around £40 from mainly overseas retailers, which makes  for a tempting offer compared to the usual £100 price tag. If you've ordered from abroad, bought one from a bloke in the pub or even on a car boot, it might be worth checking for marks of authenticity. Those include the full paperwork, the British Safety Standards mark and a box wrapped in cellophane. Anything else and it could all end in tears, a fire engine, insurance paperwork and a long stay in a cheap hotel. Link: Nintendo (via BBC ) (link)
