Eastman Kodak (EK) this afternoon announced that it has sued Samsung and LG Electronics for infringing its digital camera patents. Kodak says the patents in question relate to image capture, compression and data storage and a method for previewing motion images.
Kodak said it filed actions both in U.S. District for the Western District of New York and the U.S. International Trade Commission. The suits seek damages for the infringements, plus a bar on the importation of infringing products. The company did n’t specify how much money is it seeking to recover in the suits.
The company said it has held talks with both companies but did not reach an agreement.
Kodak today fell 59 cents, or 7.5%, to $7.30.
