Macworld 09: 17" Apple MacBook Pro
The third - and final - announcement for the last Macworld, and it's hardware. Specifically, a 17" MacBook Pro, for those light on commuting and heavy on being chained to their desk.
"It's absolutely stunning" claims Schiller. It's the world's lightest and thinnest 17" laptop, with an LED-backlit display, 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, 700:1 contract ratio, 60% greater colour gamut. Plus...a $50 anti-glare option.
Ethernet, Firewire, three USB ports plus more connections on the left side, the CD slot on the right. The glass trackpad is 39% larger, there's multi-touch and it's all one clickable area.
Up to 8GB of memory, new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and GeForce 9600GM cards, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz Dual Core and a 6MB L2 Cache, along with a 320GB hard drive, or optional 256GB SSD.
It has the longest lasting battery life ever apparently, up to eight hours on a single charge.
The MacBook Pro 17" will cost £1,949 in the UK, and $2,799 in the US, and it'll be out late ...
