With the iPhone 3.0 software bared for all to see, it’s now depressingly clear to all non-Mac heads that Apple is on the cusp of leaving the competition light-years behind. If it hadn’t already. There’s still a few minor gripes that can justify not owning one though. Well, we say ‘a few’; actually it’s more like one or two. Or possibly, one.
With cut, copy and paste in the pipeline, Bluetooth tethering and the other niceties all pencilled in for the next upgrade, it’s the elusive iPhone video recording that remains our final niggle. After all, 99% of other phones offer video recording. It might be grotesquely pixelated and look like a government-sponsored health advert, but at least it’s there. But on iPhone (unless you’ve jailbroken it, of course), it simply hasn’t been an option.
Rumours stemming from Apple Insider now suggest that video is going to be the focus of the next iPhone upgrade. That’ll be version 3.0 ...
