Nikon D3X 24.5 megapixel D-SLR officially announced

  Over the weekend, Nikon let news of its brand new D3X digital SLR slip out via its own Pro mag. Now it has officially unwrapped the uber-expensive device and released the full specs for all to see.   The D3X sports a retina-melting 24.5 megapixel sensor that surely won’t miss a single unshaven hair follicle in your studio shoot. It offers 5 fps continuous shooting, ISO 100 – 1600 (extendable to 6400) and an enhanced EXPEED image processing engine, necessary to handle the TIFF, JPEG and NEF (RAW) file formats that can be up to 138MB in size, each.   At the business end, you’ll find a 51-point Auto Focus and 40ms shutter lag. The LCD monitor is a 3” VGA affair with 920,000 dots and a 170 degree viewing angle. Then you’ve got dual CF card slots – useful for backups or extending your memory – plus HDMI output, optional wireless networking and a durable magnesium alloy chassis to keep your kit safe.   If you are wondering what ...
