Palm’s Big News? Not That Big

So, let’s give Palm (PALM) credit for a brilliant PR stratagem, noting on its corporate blog Wednesday morning that it was going to unveil some interesting news later in the day. That gave the Twitterati all day to mull what the company might announce. In particular, investors were hoping to see details on the timing and pricing for the pending debut of the Palm Pre smartphone. Instead, the company announced two minor developments that had largely leaked by the time it actually unveiled the news. The company is giving expanded access to its software developers kit. And it is offering an application that will allow Palm OS programs to run on the new Web OS, which makes its debut with the arrival of the Pre. And that’s basically it. On behalf of investors everywhere, let me say this: Yawn. (link)
