Some leading PC vendors are planning huge reductions to contract manufacturers in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, according to DigiTimes , citing “sources at component makers.”
The DigiTimes story asserts that Hewlett-Packard ’s orders will be down 50% from a year earlier, with Dell down 50%-60%, and Acer and Asustek down 40%-50% each.
That’s ugly, but it is consistent with projections yesterday from FBR’s Craig Berger on what’s happening with component demand .
