China Telecom (CHA) had had “preliminary contacts” with Research In Motion (RIMM) about offering the BlackBerry in China, according to the Wall Street Journal .
The piece notes that China Mobile (CHL) has been offering the BlackBerry in China for years, but that the device is not that popular among Chinese customers.
RIMM today is down $1.50, or 2.1%, to $69.48.
