A couple of months back, a group of companies (including SanDisk) decided the world of music buying was getting far too sensible and straightforward. And to that end, it was time for a new format to muddy the waters - the slotMusic microSD card. And now we have the first dedicated player, appropriately named the Sansa slotMusic Player.
Let's start with the positives. For a start, it's cheap. In the US, we're talking the equivalent of around £10 for the player or around £18 for an artist-themed player and 1GB slotMusic album. Even allowing for the British price bump, we're still at the affordable end of the spectrum. It also plays both MP3 and WMA files and has a mini screen to keep you updated of what's on and can take standard microSD cards up to 16GB. And it's good for bouncing your music between media player and phone too.
Ok, so that's the good. On the downside, do we really need another format? And is it really a hardship transferring tracks from a computer to a solid ...
