It's not the smartest Blu-ray player on the block and it's certainly not the most feature-packed, but the Sharp BD-HP21H has one big selling point - an affordable price tag.
Saying that, this 1080p player packs in all the essentials, including a 24-hertz frame rate, 1.3 HDMI, upscaling of your old standard def discs, high-definition JPEG viewing from CDs and a quick-start mode to cut your power consumption. But with just the BD 1.1 profile on board (including picture-in-picture and simultaneous play functions), it's already playing catch-up with the BD-Live 2.0 players.
But those players probably cost a lot more than the £249 Sharp is asking for this. It's available now.
