Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 updated with new panels

 
Can you believe it's a year since the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was unveiled? Granted we didn't get our hands on a finished unit until July and it didn't actually make it to the stores until November, but in phone years, the X1 is probably approaching middle age. Perfect time for a makeover then, courtesy of some new panels. Essentially we're talking new apps, but interesting ones nonetheless. Top of the pile is a Skype panel, offering quick and easy access to the VoIP service, as well as access to your contacts, instant messages and if you use the Wi-Fi connection, free calls. It's a no-brainer, cash in your pocket. Aside from that, there's also a CNN tool for news sport and weather, plus access to the network's ‘i-Report’ citizen journalism tool. And on a less serious note, Mytopia offers online bingo and poker against other users and On The Road offers car-friendly access to your music, call handling and navigation.
