Two-Day Nasdaq Rally Nearly Offsets Two-Day Swoon

 
Well, today it was everybody back in the pool. With the market apparently cheered up by the government’s willingness to spend even more money for yet another bank bailout - Citigroup , this time - stock prices posted huge gains for the second straight session. Of course, that followed two days of giant losses. So let’s review: Today : Up 86.67, or 6.3%, to 1,472.02 Up 87.67 Friday : Up 68.23 Thursday : Down 70.30 Wednesday : Down 96.82. Net change for the four sessions: Down 11.25 points, a decline of under 1%; we’re still below the level of last Tuesday’s close, so let’s keep this in perspective. Still, the two-day rally feels a lot better than the nasty two-day sell-off which preceded it. Clearly investors were in the mood to bargain hunt today - all that talk of Black Friday later in the week maybe had people in shopping mode.
