Video Games: Feb. Hardware Up 11%; Software Up 9%

It was another nice month for the video game business , with February hardware sales up 11% from the same month last year, software sales up 9%, and accessories up 13%. The Nintendo Wii sold 753,000 units in the month, up from 679,000 in January, while the DS handled sold 588,000 units, up from 510,800 last month. Sony sold 276,000 Playstation 3 consoles, 131,000 Playstation 2 boxes, and 199,000 PSP handhelds, up modestly from last month in each case. Microsoft sold 391,000 Xbox 360 consoles in February, up from 309,000 in January. Nintendo also dominated the list of best-selling software titles.
