Part webcam, part camcorder, the Xcaster 5000 can sit on a desk or table to give your conference calls that added HD kick or it can go out and about, recording your adventures in full high-definition, throwing in CD quality audio too. And it's not just a one way deal either, the Xcaster 5000 packs a nifty touchscreen on the rear, so you get to see the folk on the other side in just as much detail as they see you.
How does it work? Via Wi-Fi, specifically 802.11n, which allows the faster rate of streaming that's required. If you don't want to stream, you can capture movies and 5 megapixel stills onto SD card. And with Bluetooth on board, you can always drop your mini masterpieces onto a Bluetooth-friendly device, as well as having the option to upload to your favourite online storage site via that wireless connection.
$8,000 gets you into the HD broadcasting business, with a super-tough, watertight casing thrown in to protect your investment.
