Clearwire Raises Another $920M In Note Offering

Clearwire (CLWR) today announced that it will raise another $920 million via the sale of 12% senior notes due 2015 - that on top of the sale of another $1.85 billion of notes previously announced but priced today.
Confusing? A little. Let’s clear things up. On November 10, the development stage broadband wireless company announced plans to sell $1.564 billion of new stock to a group of investors led by Sprint (S) . Concurrently, the company said it would sell $1.45 billion in new senior notes, plus another chunk to be rolled over to existing note holders Sprint and Comcast ; that issued turned out to actually be the $1.85 billion figure in the first paragraph.
On top of those notes, the company has raised another $920 million of notes, which were priced at 97.9%. So that’s $2.77 billion in senior notes all told, or $4.33 billion in fresh capital including the equity offering.
Clearwire CEO Bill Morrow said in a statement that the various deals demonstrate the ...

Find more top gadget news, videos, and blogs on GadgetBlips: Phones, Sprint

Deutsche Telekom Reportedly Seeking Partner For T-Mobile

Deutsche Telekom (DT) is looking for a partner for T-Mobile , its U.S. wireless unit, according to a story in the German newspaper Handelsblatt which was picked up by Reuters . The piece says the company wants the partner to help finance a multi-billion-dollar build-out of a new 4G network, citing “unidentified people” at the company.
Possible partners for the business reportedly include MetroPCS (PCS) , Clearwire (CLWR) and AT&T (T) , as well companies outside the industry. The piece also said that the German company is no longer contemplating a bid for Sprint (S) , a possibility which had been rumored earlier this year.

Sprint Soars; Credit Suisse Turns Bullish

Sprint Nextel (S) shares are sharply higher this morning after Credit Suisse analyst Jonathan Chaplin this morning upped his rating on the stock to Outperform from Neutral, while lifting his price target to $6, from $4. The stock closed Friday at $3.10.
Chaplin writes that he had previous warned of two risks to the stock: new pricing plans from T-Mobile and overly bullish 2010 consensus EBITDA estimates. But T-Mobile has now unveiled revised pricing, and he says there is improved visibility into margin trends for 2010. “We believe it is the right time to own Sprint,” he writes.
Credit Suisse also added the stock to its U.S. Focus List. In a separate note, the firm noted that “while we rarely add turnaround stories to the Focus List and fully recognize the degree of risk and volatility involved in this case, the Investment Policy Committee believes that Sprint is one of the few stocks in our coverage universe with a legitimate chance of doubling over ...

Find more top gadget news, videos, and blogs on GadgetBlips: Phones, Sprint
