Beijing National Stadium no longer just a stadium, now also a crappy MP3 player
Engadget —
... Like so many other devices made in China, we're convinced this Bird's Nest Stadium, um, "inspired" device is totally, completely authorized and legit. And hey, unlike Chinese bird's nest soup, it not only comes in capacities up to 4GB, but doesn't even appear to ...

... on the underside. It claims to play a wide range of digital music formats, including MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA, WMV, ASF, WAV and more. The list price sets it in about the 15 quid region - certainly not bad for 4GBs of plug-and-play storage on a dubious bit of tourist tat. That also gets you seven equaliser settings, presumably ranging all the way from tinny to humming, an optional FM receiver for catching all the Five Live coverage, and a built-in microphone. ... themed gadget shouts itself a must buy but this one definitely takes the cake because it apes the 500 million USD stadium. On the front sports a lovely LCD to show the current playing status and the rear, making the way for the Beijing Olympics logo along with the music controls. This player isn’t expensive too considering with other special edition gadgets and starts with a modest $20 for 1GB and going to $24 for 2GB and $33 for 4GB.

Digital voice recording is another facility, which sounds rather cool, and the player also comes with support for individual files. The prices range from $19.20 and above.

This commemorative MP3 player supports most audio formats, including MP3, WMA, WAV and ASF. And if you feel like recording a bit, you can as the player contains a built-in microphone. To complete the package, the back of the player features the 2008 Beijing logo. This doesn’t seem to be an official Olympic product, but it might make a nice gift.

Available now in 1GB ($19), 2GB ($24), and 4GB ($33) capacities.
