Acer Liquid Snapdragon-based Android smartphone announced

Acer have officially announced their first Android smartphone, the Acer Liquid, and it’s also the first handset running the Android platform to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. The Liquid has a WVGA touchscreen, HSPA connectivity and a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, geo-tagging, ISO and a self-timer.
The 1GHz chipset also means the Liquid can support 3D graphics, and the phone will run Android 1.6. So far we’ve seen Snapdragon used on one shipping smartphone – the Toshiba TG01 – and on one upcoming smartphone – the HTC HD2 – but both run Windows Mobile rather than Google’s open-source OS. It looks like we have another new product from Acer today, they have just announced their first Google Android smartphone, the Acer Liquid.
The Acer Liquid will comes with Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and will run Google’s Android (1.6) OS, on top of that there is a WVGA touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera with built in auto focus, ISO, ge-tagging and a self timer.
Connectivity comes in the form of HSPA, other details are pretty scarce at the moment, although it will come with Exclusive Spinlets application providing free streaming of worldwide music and video, smart integration of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Picasa and Flickr.
There is no word on pricing or availability as yet.

Acer has just announced its first Android smartphone – the Acer Liquid, which is also the world’s first Android handset powered by Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
Previously known as Acer A1, the Liquid runs Android 1.6 Donut (not Android 2.0 as rumored) and uses a “new user interface with easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks.”
