As an example, you could pre-program the system with the locations of your favorite restaurants, and the sensors will let you know as soon as you are approaching one. For another, they could even let you know if it is time to, ahem…retire your shoes.
We bet there will be plenty of takers for the Nike+ if/when it does show up with such provisions. But for now, we will let time do the talking.

Moreover, the nearby point of interest (i.e., restaurant) can also push information to the user by, for example, displaying advertisements in addition to the notification that the user is within the pre-determined distance.
While they may do all of this and more, you do still need to lift your own feet and pound the track if you want some exercise to be done. The smart shoes cant do that for you.
