Apple white MacBook specs updated: better CPU & graphics, 2GB RAM
SlashGear — ... this new update, but otherwise connectivity remains the same and there’s no sign of the faster, DDR3 memory that was introduced on the unibody MacBooks. The initial assumption is that Apple are attempting to bring their most basic MacBook in line with their own OpenCL GPU requirements for the upcoming OS X Snow Leopard operating-system.  OpenCL will allow the MacBook to use the graphics processor not just for video work but for general processing as well. White MacBooks Upgraded, Nearly Match Unibody Specs [Apple]
Gizmodo — ... Core 2 Duo, the RAM to 2GB (though still DDR2), and most importantly the integrated graphics to Intel's 9400m unit. In other words, the extra $300 you have to spend to get a unibody model gets you a nicer-looking laptop, slight bump in HDD space, faster RAM, a proprietary display port and not much else. From the glass-half-full perspective this does mean that for once, $999 is all you'll have to spend to get a perfectly capable, latest-gen MacBook. [Apple via Engadget] ...

Hmmm, what's this? Did Apple just update its lowly, $999 white plastic polycarbonate MacBook to more closely align with its new unibody MacBooks? Why yes, sometime in the last 3 days according to Google's cache. [via Engadget]

13" White Macbook gets a sneaky upgrade
Tech Digest — ... the processor up to a Core 2 Duo with faster 1,066MHz FSB, a doubling of RAM (2GB, rather than one) and a considerably nicer integrated graphics unit. Bluetooth's upgraded from 2.0 to 2.1, too. It hasn't hit the UK store yet, only the US one, but I suspect us Brits will get the same upgrade within a matter of days. In the meantime, if you were planning a purchase, it might be worth waiting a day or two until the UK store updates too. Price is still the same. Apple's White MacBook Gets a Boost
Wired: Gadget Lab — ... aluminum MacBook ($1,300), there still remain a few differences. The white MacBook's RAM is DDR2 — slower than the DDR3 memory in its aluminum siblings. Also, the white MacBook ships with a 120GB hard drive, while the low-end aluminum MacBook ships with a 160GB hard drive. Nonetheless, those differences are very minor, so this is a great upgrade if you're looking to save some cash and the new aluminum look doesn't do it for you. Product Page [Apple via Engadget] ...

$999 Apple White MacBook updated to unibody specs
D' Technology Weblog — ... that newer generation 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo processor with faster 1,066MHz frontside bus, 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory standard (up from 1GB), and integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics. Whitey is still stuck with DDR2 SDRAM though, not the speedier DDR3 found in the unibodies. Disk drive and other specs (including Firewire 400) appear to be the same. Bluetooth received a bump from 2.0 to 2.1 as well. More info: MacBook Source:→ Engadget ...

Apple updates White Macbook specs to (somewhat) match its unibody siblings
Tech Ticker — ... $999 white Macbook. The new specs now includes a fast 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor with 1066MHz FSB, 2GB DDR2 RAM, integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics and Bluetooth 2.1. Well, the specs don’t exactly match the higher unibody versions as the notebook still sports a Firewire 400 and also a mini-DVI port. The upgrade is expected to reach other regions too but I doubt if Apple India will sell the new white Macbook at the same old price. Product Page [Via Engadget] Submit to: ...
