Breaking: iPhone 3GS sells over 1 million units in 3 days, 6 million people upgrade to iPhone 3.0 OS
IntoMobile - Cell Phone News, Information, and Analysis —
Two important things happened today: Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) announced the iPhone 3GS has shipped over 1 million units, and Apple is officially referring to the iPhone 3GS as the iPhone 3GS rather than the iPhone 3G S. I always thought adding that space between the G and the S was stupid. Apple seems to think so too.
Oh and more more thing, Steve Jobs was quoted in the press release:

... but we shouldn’t forget the fact that this time seven other countries added to the sales figure in addition to the US. Apple also flaunted its iPhone OS 3.0 figures which go in excess of six million downloads in the first five days of the release.
Apart from all this hoopla, another good thing we can see is a quote from Jobs, which clearly says that Stevie is back. Welcome back Steve! How about sharing a pic to the world to show how fit you have become?

Apple PR has announced that:
it has sold over one million iPhone™ 3GS models through Sunday, June 21, the third day after its launch. In addition, six million customers have downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 software in the first five days since its release.
That’s a good number of units for the device equivalent of another sequel release, isn’t it? It’s also enough to get Steve Jobs back up in the quoting chair:

One Million iPhone 3GS’s Sold in Opening Weekend
Wired: Gadget Lab —
... more or less. That gives an average unit price of $650. Multiply that by one million and you get $650,000,000. This is $2 million more than Star Wars Spiside II: Attack of the Clones has managed worldwide in seven years. Not bad.
One more takeaway from this announcement. Even Apple is struggling with the plural form of “3GS”, opting in its headline to use the term “3GS Models” instead of “3GS’s”.

News: Apple changes iPhone 3G S name to iPhone 3GS
iLounge | All Things iPod, iPhone, iTunes and beyond —
In its press release announcing sales of one million iPhone 3GS units in the device’s first weekend on sale, Apple quietly changed its naming scheme for the new device. Previously referred to in all official Apple communication as the “iPhone 3G S,” yesterday’s PR referred to it as the “iPhone 3GS.” Indeed, a quick check of Apple’s press info site shows that they retroactively changed the name in the release announcing the device, although it appears the company is taking its time implementing the name change on its website and online store. While the company has not given any ...

Sprint Ad Attempts to Bait iPhone Owners
Wired: Gadget Lab —
... things the iPhone can’t,” says the ad, posted on Sprint’s Facebook page. “Run multiple applications at the same time with real-time updates and even save $1,200 over two years.”
Cleverly timed targeting, because original iPhone customers should be done with their two-year contracts by around now. But it also comes off as a desperate move, considering an analyst’s estimation that Palm has sold 150,000 Pres — minuscule compared to Apple’s new iPhone 3GS reaching one million sales in just three days.
