ASUS S101 luxury ‘fashion’ netbook official
SlashGear —
ASUS has officially announced the S101 netbook, its “fashion forward” model with higher specs than the traditional Eee PC range. The S101 has the usual 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU paired with a 10.2-inch WSVGA display with LED-backlight, SSD storage up to 64GB and WiFi 802.11n. It’ll be available in brown, champagne and graphite.
Other specs include Bluetooth 2.0, a VGA output, a 4-in-1 card reader and three USB 2.0 ports. There’s also a VGA quality webcam and multitouch trackpad. Surprisingly, despite ASUS CEO Jerry Shen claiming that the S101 would not be branded an Eee ...

Just when we think things can't get any worse for the Eee's bedraggled reputation as a brand, along comes ASUS with a subtle deviation to give us some much needed hope. The "fashion-friendly" S101 ($699 to $799), which will ship in brown (seriously?), champagne and graphite hues, and feature a ...
ASUS introduces the S101 netbook and it’s not exactly cheap
Krunker —
ASUS officially introduced their latest Eee PC today - the new ultra-slim Eee PC S101. The S101 measures a mere 1.8 cm thick, weighs around 1kg and comes in three colors - Brown, Champagne, and Graphite, will have a weight of around 1kg and will be a mere 1.8cm thick. Spec wise, it’s really not all that different from other competing netbooks. You’ve got:
Intel Atom processor
Intel 945GSE / ICH7-M chipset
10.2 inch wide-screen LED backlit TFT with 1024 x 600, 252K color display
10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Controller
802.11n Wi-Fi
Bluetooth ...

... than the MacBook Air.
The tech specs are in line with most other netbooks: Wi-Fi (802.11n), Ethernet (only 10/100), 1GB of RAM, solid-state drive (16, 32, or 64GB), built-in card reader, Intel Atom processor.
So, so small, though. I'm sort of giddy about it and I have no reason to explain why that is so. I haven't even seen the inside of this thing yet. Prices start at $700, up to $800 depending on storage and OS options. (Windows and Linux are available.)

... much does the thing cost? It's just cheap enough to be exciting, but not quite as impulse-buyable as the original Eee. 16GB SSD, 16GB SD, Windows XP $699 32GB, Linux $699 64GB, Linux $799 The only catch is obviously that XP is not included in the better configurations. But still, if this rendering is in any way accurate, it looks like Asus may have knocked one out of the park, again. [HardwareZone]

Asus S101 Ultra Slim and Trim Laptop
GadgetReview —
Feather me timbers! Asus has gone computer bonkers. First they’ve had massive success with the Eee PC and now they’ve unveiled a Macbook Air killer, the S101, which sports an Intel Atom processor under the hood. It’s .7-inches at its thickest point, weighs 2.2lbs, rocks a 10.2-inch LED backlit LCD (1024×768), and includes 20GB of online storage + 4-in-1 media card reader. Much like the Air, you’ll be limited to a non-removable 5-hour battery and you’ll have to tolerate the fixed 1GB of RAM. Wireless is had through 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.0. Fear not, it comes in Champagne and Graphite ...
