AT&T Mobility's CEO seems to confirm Dell is working on a smartphone
Engadget —
Dell hasn't made an announcement, but it turns out that CEOs love spilling each others' secrets -- and to that end, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega has just mentioned during a Mobile World Congress panel that Dell has "announced they're entering the smartphone market." Maybe he got a bit confused about the announcement date or time -- or perhaps he's confusing the countless rumors with official details -- but either way, all eyes should be on Round Rock, Texas for the next few hours (or days, or weeks, or months) to see if anything shakes out. Ralph De La Vega: Dell Entering the Smartphone Market… Oops!

... the smart phone market.”
That’s exactly what he said.
Now, I realize that isn’t a quote from anyone at Dell, but when Ralph De La Vega says something, there must be some truth to it. One has to think now that AT&T and Dell have been working together or have at the very least been in discussions about a new smartphone from Dell. I’m sure we’ll get some reaction from Dell on this in the near future.

Dell Smartphone Confirmed by AT&T?
Mobilewhack.com —
... Ralph de la Vega has decided to unofficially confirm it. Or at least that’s what we were led to believe. He said that Dell has “announced they’re entering the smartphone market.” Now if I go around saying that, it might be true but it might also be false as it’s just a rumor. When the CEO of an important carrier says that phrase it’s not a rumor anymore. It’s a fact. Now we can stop wondering if Dell is launching a smartphone and start wondering when it will launch it. via gearlog Tags: At&T , Dell , Mobile News , Mobile Software , ...
Dell to bring smartphone to mobile world says AT&T CEO?

... the smart phone market.” Straight up, apparently that’s exactly what he said.
Now, although this isn’t exactly confirmation from Dell themselves, but if there isn’t anything in it why would De La Vega say it? Which leads us to believe that maybe AT&T and Dell have been working together or at the very least been in some sort of negotiations about a Dell smartphone…so who knows maybe we’ll see a Dell smartphone in the near future.
