Does coddling to the whims of gender stereotypes ever work for gadgets, or anywhere else for that matter? It looks like Garmin is betting that it will, for it just announced an update of their Nuvi GPS systems that include fake diamonds/crystals, and feature names like 'Light Rose' and 'Black Diamond.'
The systems are design updates of the Garmin GPS Nuvi line (the 760 and 250), which to be fair, are considered pretty good systems (they are also releasing three new colors -- see pics below). However, I have hard time seeing how any respectable woman over 12 years old will think these are attractive instead of tacky. ...

So they’re not quite diamonds, but Garmin have re-vamped the Nuvi 250. The Light Rose Diamond Edition boasts a slim design enveloped in a sparkling array of pink and clear faux-diamonds. Most definitely one for the girliest of girls.
I hate to stereotype people though; some like pink and sparkly and some hate it. So if this makeover of the Nuvi 250 isn’t up your street, Garmin have also released a Black Diamond Edition of the Nuvi 760 and a sparkle-free variety in blue and white (260) and red (760).
