New BlackBerry TV Service to Launch: Maybe Not for the Storm
jkOnTheRun — ... Our friends at NewTeeVee are reporting that RIM is planning to announce a new service for the BlackBerry that puts full TV episodes right on your phone. The new service is rumored to be announced at the CTIA next week, so maybe Kevin can get the scoop on this. The BlackBerry Storm would be the perfect device for this content given its big, beautiful screen but if the information given to NewTeeVee is correct it won’t work on the Storm. ...

BlackBerry launching TV streaming application?
Tech Digest — ... There's scarce detail other than that, but it seems like it'll be a flat-rate subscription per month for a service, it'll use a device's Wi-Fi connection, and multiple content providers have been confirmed. Given BlackBerry's current keenness on applications, this announcement wouldn't be out of kilter with their overall strategy. It's interesting that they're avoiding 3G, relying on Wi-Fi instead. Just think of the shows as video podcasts, I suppose, and it all makes sense. (via NewTeeVee) ...

CrunchGear — ... Here’s a spicy rumor for you all to enjoy. Apparently RIM is planning some sort of BlackBerry TV store/service/thing, and may launch it as early as CTIA next week. (CTIA is like CES, but just for cellphone stuff; actually, a more accurate comparison would have been with Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress; thank you.) It’d be a subscription service, and the TV shows download over a Wi-Fi connection; it won’t use your data (3G if you’re lucky) connection at all. ...

RIM to fire up mobile TV service for BlackBerry devices?

Rumor: RIM to bring mobile TV service to BlackBerry?
Gadgetell — ... not forget that 19.5% of worldwide smartphone sales are RIM’s BlackBerrys.  People don’t like to change, and if they see nothing wrong with their BlackBerry, they are less likely to switch to let’s say the iPhone, G1, or any other competitive smartphones.  Will this rumor play out and be successful?  Only time will tell, but it is another thing along with the App store for BlackBerry users to potentially get excited about.
