Canon anunció que ya vendó 100 millones de cámaras digitales alcanzado a Sony, que se había convertido en la primer compañía del mundo en alcanzar esta marca dos meses antes.
Canon lanzó su primera cámara digital en el año ’96, la PowerShot 600 y, desde ese momento, la empresa lanzó 106 nuevos modelos. Por otra parte, Sony comenzó con la famosa Cybershot y hasta el día de hoy publicó 155 nuevos modelos.
