elaborate wii zapper could become your very favorite gun
technabob —
The Dark Ops Wii Light Gun seems to have been designed with two kinds of people in mind: a) the kind of people who want to play every Wii game with a gun (i.e. the people I didn’t know existed) and b) people who want to inject some sort of action-movie-style flair into their Wii gaming.
Here’s who didn’t design the Dark Ops Wii Light Gun: people who design guns. Certainly this gun shell is neat-looking and stands out even in the crowded field of retail and DIY Wii controller shells, but it doesn’t look nearly as realistic as as the gritty action film marketing is trying to imply.

‘Dark Ops Wii Light Gun’ brings some style

If you’re gonna shell out $20 for a hunk of plastic to turn your Wii-mote into a gun for shooting games, it might as well look cool. That’s likely the thought behind the Dark Ops Wii Light Gun from Cobalt Flux. You load your Wii-mote into the back of the gun “like a clip” which leaves the bottom exposed so you can hook up a nunchuck and use it unencumbered.
The apparatus uses the magic of mirrors to bend the beam from the Wii-mote, allowing you to aim the actual gun at the screen. Cool, no?

Cobalt Flux Dark Ops Wii Lightgun Unites Bald Gamers Everywhere [Accessories]

... Loading the Wiimote like a clip of ammo, the Dark Ops uses lenses to bend the controller's IR beam, allowing you to aim at the gun at the screen without the Wiimote being situated in its standard, perpendicular formation. For that point alone the Dark Ops is somewhat interesting, even if it's not an inexpensive alternative to Nintendo's offerings at $20, and that awesome lead shot is a bit of a lie as the real barrel is painted "I will not hurt you" orange. Take the shape of Cobalt Flux's "Dark Ops Wii Light Gun", for example. It's different. Like, it's not a shark. And the finish. It's not white.

I’ve never been too thrilled with the guns that have been released for the Wii. Some are so cheaply made that they break in no time at all. Others are large and bulky and although they do the job, it’d be nice if there was something durable and smaller. Well here’s a Wii accessory that although there’s no way to know how durable it is, it actually looks great. Whoever designed it actually put creative thought into the gun, which is far more effort than I’ve seen put into a great deal of the Wii accessories.
