Wired: Gadget Lab —
... a contract to actually get your hands on the phone, and we suspect that the iPhone will still reject any SIMs from other carriers, so the cheap local PayG card you might pick up while on vacation is still out.

Apple iPhone 3G now works with PAYG SIM
Phones Review —
... PAYG plan, and if so it is looking as if you can slip your AT&T PAYG SIM into an Apple iPhone 3G.
TUAW’s Erica Sadun tries this, and put a PAYG SIM card, complete with data package, into an Apple iPhone 3G, and guess what, it worked.

In any case, if you can think into any useful thing to do with this, Erica at TUAW details how to attach an unlimited 5GB plan to a SIM: • Call 611. • Select "Buy Features". • Select "Media Net". • Select "Unlimited" • Select "Buy It".
