iShelf - Cover Flow Inspired CD Stand
GeekAlerts —
... The CD might be dead when it comes to listening to music, but I would be more than happy to purchase a few of those old pieces of plastic to be able to enjoy the iShelf.
This CD stand concept, inspired by the famous “cover flow” user interface in Apple’s digital iTunes media player application, is created by the Chinese designer Li Jianye.

iShelf
Tech Blog —
... Sleek and stylish, the iShelf basically "brings Apple's coverflow to your physical collection, displaying your choice albums in the now universally recognized format." No word yet on if this concept will go into production. Click here for first picture in gallery.
Just in case you missed it, yes this is meant for a standard jewel case so no...your Burt Bacharach greatest hits box set wont fit.

CD Stand Conjures Cover Flow into the Material World
Wired: Gadget Lab —
... a concept designed by Li Jianye and featured at our favorite vapor-ware monger, Yanko Design.
The Cover Flow inspired iShelf holds five CDs in their jewel cases, proudly displaying them as if they were sitting within Apple's iTunes itself. If this ever came to market I'd snap them up as novelty toys for friends. Just remember one thing, Li Jianye: This needs to be made in glossy piano black for the "wet floor" style reflections to complete the uncanny effect.

iShelf Brings Cover Flow to Real Life, Makes Profound Statement About Something or Other [Concepts]
Gizmodo —
... In other worlds, it's better to view the iShelf as an artistic statement about digital music or interface usability, or something, because that's pretty much what it is. It's still in concept limbo at the moment, but even if it doesn't ever see production the concept is good—it wouldn't be that hard to make your own iShelf with room for seven, nine, or—YES—eleven(ELEVEN!) albums. Or you could just not worry about it. [Yanko via ...
Cover Flow goes manual
Boing Boing Gadgets —
Ripped straight from OS X and made incarnate in black glossy plastic, iTunes' worst (but sexiest) music browsing interface becomes a sexy tray for the triumphant living room display of five CDs. Pick them carefully: I'd definitely leave out that Macy Gray.

Cover Flow-Imitating iShelf: Love It or Leave It?
GeekSugar —
Why should Cover Flow only exist electronically? The concept design for the iShelf is the ultimate old-school-goes-new-school CD storage and display solution.
I've pretty much gone completely digital with my music collection, but I do still have a few CDs knockin' around because of their sentimental value - probably the same amount that I'd need to fill up the iShelf and feel like I was looking at a real-life version of my iPod.

iShelf für den (manuellen) Cover Flow-Effekt
Ausgefallene Gadgets & Geschenkideen —
