Dell smartphone rumors flare up -- Android or S60 phone in the works?
Engadget —
So rumors of Dell doing a smartphone have been around forever, but they've started heating up again today -- word on the street is that the company is planning a handset launch as early as next month at 3GSM or Mobile World Congress. That's just chatter we'd ordinarily dismiss as nonsense, but we couldn't help but notice most of the Dell people at the Adamo event were carrying G1s -- and Dell's director of consumer products was super-quick to pull out a Nokia E71 and gush over how well-built it was compared to other devices when we asked him where the Adamo ...

... becoming fact.
Word has it that Dell is planning a mobile smartphone launch as early as next month as Mobile World Congress or 3GMS.
Now normally one would dismiss this rumour, but apparently Dell people while at the Adamo event were carrying T-Mobile G1s, while Dell’s director of consumer products was using a Nokia E71. This all gels with rumour that Dell will be going with S60 or Android, and that a possible Android/S60 Dell-phone could show soon.

Dell to launch own-brand smartphone?
T3.com All —
... smartphone is just a little computer, so why not? If it does arrive, it's unclear whether the platform will be Android or Windows Mobile. Android would perhaps be the most widely welcomed, but Dell works closely with Microsoft - and that makes a Windows Mobile handset more likely. ... not impressed. If this is indeed the form factor and design, it seems two years too late to the party. The slim brick-like look is reminiscent of the recently launched T-Mobile myTouch or for that matter every other touchscreen smartphone since the iPhone. And the specs aren’t hefty enough to make the device stand out. Unless Dell has some features in there that we don’t know about, this device is likely to face a tough battle for consumer attention.
