Nokia N97 Revealed- The Nokia s60 MotherShip Phone Has Arrived
Gadgets @ GadgetHeat —
... You can expect to fork out around $700 for the handset when it is released in Q1 of 2009.
Not content with giving us a countdown teaser, Nokia is referring to it’s N97 as a mobile computer, nay, the worlds ‘most advanced‘ mobile computer in the world. Looks okish to us, reminds us of a sidekick (oops, did we just say that?).

... cards, 3G comes in HSDPA flavor and there is Wi-Fi in the shape of 802.11b and g.
In addition, there is real and faux GPS, just like the iPhone, and an accelerometer and a compass (like the G1 Googlephone). But take a look at it. Fitting in all that gear has made the N87 a little chubby. There's another problem, too -- the handset won't be available for another six months, time enough for the rest of the world to move on. How much? €550, or around $695 in today's dollars.

... anything else. There’s still a fairly distinct line between UMPC and smartphone that the E-series Communicator straddles a little better than the N97 here, but we’ll let that slide. The N97 is also sporting a lot of draggable home screen widgets, a look reminiscent of Android and the TouchWiz UI. It looks like a great step to improving the smoothness of the Symbian experience and should make a great addition to the N series. Pretty cool, huh? Who wants one?

... the usual discounts, too bad we won't be seeing this trinket in the real world until the second quarter of next year, which could mean the end of June. If it just had a robust app store, multitouch capability, and were a little less bulky, this would be the perfect smartphone. ... is good enough for 6.6 hours of talk time (GSM) or 5.3 hours (3G). Sweet.
There’s always a huge drawback when it comes to this much awesomeness, and the drawback in this case is the wait. The N97 ain’t comin’ out until the first half of 2009, which is damn long time. There might even be an Xperia X2 by then. Don’t forget to add +5 months to that date if you live in the USA.
Finally, expect the N97 to be priced at 550 euros, or $698 USD.

Nokia N97 hands on - it’s the services, stupid…

... So I got to play with the Nokia N97 for a while in Barcelona last Tuesday, and left the encounter with somewhat mixed feelings. On the one hand disappointment - at the lack of an 8 megapixel camera, at the relatively narrow screen, at the rather complicated user interface. This is not an iPhone killer whatever that means in any way, and in fact may end up looking decidedly pedestrian should Apple upgrade their product significantly in the time before the N97 hits the shelves in the first half of next year. But on the other hand there are some significant indications from ...
