Finally, a screen that's visible in direct sunlight
DVICE Atom Feed — ... like Epson is looking into a solution. They've come up with a new technology called Photo Find High Reflect (HR) transflective amorphous silicon TFT (a-TFT) LCD. What this means is that in low light, it uses a backlight to make the screen be visible. In bright light, however, it uses reflections to use the natural light to light up the screen. Makes sense, doesn't it? Let's hope we'll be seeing this on a new generation of mobile devices soon enough. Tech On, via Treehugger
