... Developer Jamie Fuller somehow managed to coax the 5800 XpressMusic's resistive display to recognize multiple touch points at once, showing off the results in a simple rhythm game. It doesn't look like he's pulled off a full multi-point tracking, so the pinch zooming and two finger rotation that we all associate with most multitouch tech isn't seen here. But still! Multitouch! On a 5800! ...

... magic, Jamie managed to develop a mobile game - not too unlike Guitar Hero - that has the user tapping the screen to a musical beat. For now, though, things on the multi-touch front are still strictly in the testing stage. Jamie hopes to get her multi-touch capable S60 application out to the public in due time, but needs some help putting the finishing touches to the app first.

Jamie Fuller, an S60 developer has announced his new project of bringing multitouch to Nokia’s 5800 XpressMusic phone. His proof of concept is a game, much like Guitar Hero which he plans to release for free in the future after he sorts out the graphic issues. Till then, enjoy the video below.
