OLED touch-controllers promised by Fraunhofer IPMS
SlashGear —
... OLED could become the next major illuminated touch-sensitive technology, taking advantage of the fact that the homogeneous area light-source can be used to recognize points of contact without requiring a separate touch foil as LEDs would. The system, developed by Fraunhofer IPMS, is initially being touted as a light controller, for switching and dimming, but could apparently be applied to any OLED such as those used in PMPs and other mobile devices. ...

Scientists Add Touch Capabilties to OLEDs
Phone Scoop - Latest News —
... at Fraunhofer IPMS have devised organic light emitting diodes that can be controlled by touch. Right now, they envision being able to turn lights on and off via touch. Typical touch screens have to have additional touch foils on the top of the devices. This new technology from Fraunhofer doesn't need those foils, because the OLED itself is used to read out the touch signal. It wasn't clear if the technology could be used to create touch screens for devices such as mobile phones. more info at Science Daily ...
