Samsung 0.05mm-thick ‘flapping’ OLED display
SlashGear —
... Samsung have been demonstrating a 4-inch OLED panel that, at 0.05mm thick, is flexible enough to flutter in the breeze from a fan. Coined the “flapping display”, the OLED was manufactured in the normal way up until the point where it would be sealed in a glass substrate; instead, they used a new membrane sealing technology that both protects the display but leaves it flexible. ...
“Flapping Display”: Samsung develops ultra-thin OLED display, hangs it up in the air
CrunchGear —
... Samsung, which the company calls “flapping display”.
The Samsung display is just 0.05mm thin (yes, that’s millimeters) and currently being showcased at the FPD International 2008 in Tokyo. According to the company, the 4-inch panel could even be made thinner (even though its thickness already comes close to that of paper). The display features a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, a luminance of 200cd/m2 and 480 × 272 resolution.

Thin Is In: Samsung intros Flapping Display OLED panel
DVICE Atom Feed —
... the 0.05millimeter-thick 4-inch OLED panel is so thin it actually flaps in the wind, a trick Samsung made sure to show off by installing a fan near the display.
In what almost seems like bragging, the company said it could make an even thinner display but they claim, "It is difficult to further reduce the thicknesses of the flexible substrates and circuit components around it." Translation: We will have TV screens inside our eye glasses sooner than we think.

Samsung shows off flappy, .05mm thick OLED display
CrunchGear —
Samsung has produced an OLED display so thin that it can gently sway with the wind. The paper-thin, .05mm thick, 4-inch display not only is extremely thin, but also can still produce an impressive 480×272 image with 100,000:1 contrast ratio. It seems that this model is just a tech demo and obviously a few steps away from a practical application, but still impressive as it flappity, flaps around.
Samsung shows ultra-thin 0.05mm OLED Panel
I4U News —
... they just want to underline the fact that it is so thin that it moves with the wind. Samsung says they could make an even thinner OLED panel, but the circuit components around the display are harder to make thinner than 0.05mm. For my taste it is thin enough. Now it just needs to be bigger than 4 inches and have more resolution than 480x272px. Step by step we are getting closer to get an electronic display that can be folded or rolled and put into our pockets. More details on TechOn . Via ...

... flexibility to lurch around with the breeze.
Watch this:
Thin is getting thinner and we never know what might come in next, but kudos to Samsung, we finally have an assertion to that which had been floating in the air for some time – with the ‘floating screen’. Samsung has come up with ultra thin displays over the years, and claim to go even thinner with them in the future. But they really have no idea how to reach there.

... air to make it flutter from the breeze. Samsung has named it as Flapping Display and it is so thin that even a light breeze from a fan can make it flutter.
Samsung claims that they could make a display thinner than this but the circuit components and other materials involved makes it difficult to achieve. On the technical side, the display boasts a resolution of 480X272 pixels, contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and a luminous power of 200cd/m2.

Superthin Samsung
Core77 —
If flatscreens could have eating disorders, Samsung would be the guilty stage mom driving the complex. Their new OLED "Flapping Display," exhibited at Flat Panel Display International 2008, is an absurdly thin 0.05mm thick.
"It is technically possible to make the panel thinner," says a Samsung employee. We'd hate to be that guy's kid.
