However, currently Skyfire runs on Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 3rd Edition handsets but, is presently only for the UK, US and Canada although you may be able to use Skyfire outside these countries.
Apparently Skyfire supports VGA and QVGA resolution screens and covers Windows Mobile 5, 6 and 6.1 and most of the Nokia E series and N series including the N96.

The Skyfire v0.85 release updates the Symbian and Windows Mobile clients, bringing with it “Client/Server performance enhancements” and new UK proxy servers to speed up web-page access for UK customers. And, since anyone can download the new client and install it to their Windows Mobile or Symbian smartphone, Skyfire is somewhat unofficially available globally.

So back to SkyFire 1.0 I went, and with a 679 KB CAB file versus Opera Mobile’s 4.65 MB file, SkyFire seems to be an ideal fit for any solid Windows Mobile or Symbian smartphone that’s showing its age but still has several good years left.

The zoom buttons disappearing and reappearing in a timely fashion was never a stand-out issue for me, but I’m glad that the general 1.0 release fixed the navigation buttons hanging out in the top right corner even when they shouldn’t be. Plus, SkyFire is now more reliable in maintaining the all-haloed Default Browser spot on my handset. No more accidental sojourns with Pocket Internet Explorer. Sorry Microsoft.
