Motorola and Verizon Wireless have officially announced the Verizon Droid by Motorola, the first Android smartphone for the carrier and what’s promising to be one of the most interesting. Motorola and Verizon Wireless have just announced the Motorola Droid, the world’s first Android 2.0 smartphone.
As expected, the Moto Droid will be available from Verizon starting November 6. The price? Well, Verizon asks $199.99 for the Droid, with a 2-yr agreement and after a $100 rebate.

According to the press release: DROID by Motorola will be available in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online on Friday, Nov. 6, for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate. Customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted.

As expected, Verizon have outed their first Android smartphone, the Motorola DROID. The Verizon DROID by Motorola will be the first device to arrive with Android 2.0, together with a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash, and OTA Amazon MP3 downloads.
Connectivity includes EVDO Rev.A, Bluetooth, WiFi and USB 2.0, and there’s also GPS along with Google’s new Google Maps Navigation Beta for free turn-by-turn directions. All the usual Google apps are loaded, and there’s a 16GB microSD card in the box.

No matter what product is launching, you can pretty much always expect Walmart to undercut the competition and have it at a lower price. The upcoming Verizon Droid is no exception. Starting Friday, Walmart will offer the Droid for $188.00 with 2 year contract. Yup, that is the actual in store price (no silly mail in rebate) which is over $100 cheaper than you would pay at Verizon. They will also have the Droid for $500 off contract compared to $599 at Verizon.
Check your local Walmart circular ad because they are also having a major electronics sale on November 7, 2009. I heard they have the Xbox 360 Arcade for $99 (after $100 gift card). ...
