The USB keyboard is really beautifully made, with aluminum accents to match the Mac it'll be paired with.

This keyboard was commissioned by a couple of friends of mine from back east (NJ) who are avid Scrabble players. Most of the keys are made from real Scrabble tiles that were all hand-beveled (truly an exercise in patience/masochism!) and built onto a USB, clicky, mechanical-switch keyboard. ... DIY Scrabble keyboard? It is a beauty no matter how you look at it, featuring both wood Scrabble tiles as well as brushed aluminum for that elegant look. The points on individual letters have been modified though in order to display the key’s secondary function. Having one of this clearly beats the rush of making a word out of your initial rack. Too bad this isn’t going to be mass produced, otherwise it would rake in a handsome amount for the manufacturer.

This was originally just a one-off piece, but yesterday the creator put up a little note on his site. Since so many people have taken an interest in his work, he is considering making a small batch of these to sell. The biggest hurdle is whether or not he’s going to have Hasbro banging on his door for doing so.

The objective of the mod was to have an elegant design that would look well in a Mac environment. As such, brushed aluminum was used for the casing and rounded corners finish the look.
Although not officially approved by Hasbro Toys, there is high consumer demand in this keyboard mod and as such, there is a chance that these may go on sale once the legalities have all been worked out.
