HTC have announced the release date for their Touch HD smartphone. The Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro device, which has a 3.8-inch WVGA 800 x 480 touchscreen with haptic feedback, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and 3G HSDPA, will be available in Europe come November 6th.
Other specs include GPS, a front-facing VGA camera for video messaging, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and a microSDHC card slot. In a pleasant change for HTC, the Touch HD also includes a 3.5mm headphone socket.

... Touch2 is smooth although we’re a bit puzzled by the gloss over the screen: it looks exactly like a sticky label is plastered across it, even though there’s not.
As for Windows Mobile 6.5? As ever it’s made more bearable with HTC’s TouchFlo interface, but the honeycomb menu Microsoft has brought to the table is pretty slick too. We’re off for a further poke around, but stay tuned for a full HTC Touch2 review!

My friend Eric from HTC popped by my office the other day with a demo unit of the new HD2– I have to say it was pretty impressive. I’m not a huge fan of Windows Mobile but they did a very nice job rebuilding the key components of the OS (with their multi-touch sense project) for this specific device. Where they really shine through as a company though is in the construction of the physical device– it’s so good. If they keep up developing products like this they’ll be on people’s radar in a much bigger way very soon. ...

... we tested the HTC HD2 on Wednesday, we were blown away by the beautiful, responsive screen, and HTC’s Sense skin draped over the top, so we reckon this could be every bit as much a hotcake for the network as the Palm Pre, which launches just three days before.
We’re still chasing for more details right now, and we’ll let you know once we get those all important contract rates for the HTC HD2.
