Introducing Windows 7
Hi there, Mike Nash here. For me, one of the most exciting times in the release of a new product is right before we show it to the world for the first time. And that time is right now. In a few weeks we are going to be talking about the details of this release at the PDC and at WinHEC ...

Windows 7 is the official name
Geek In Disguise — There you have it, Windows 7 now has a name. It’s called – Windows 7. All the details on the Windows Vista blog. To be honest I was quite surprised but also pretty pleased. The naming decision as Mike Nash says is about simplicity. It’ll certainly save us from all having to unlearn the name we’ve all had for it to date :) I expect this naming decision will be debated to death on all the usual sites, but me, I’m just happy we settled on a name. Now let’s get to the PDC and get the bits!

Microsoft Settles on "Windows 7" For Official Name of Next OS [Not Just A Code Name]
Gizmodo — ... was simply a codename (and a fairly boring one at that—where's Longhorn? Whistler?). Now, on the official Windows Vista Blog, MS has came out and declared "Windows 7" the official name of Vista's successor, dev-only pre-betas of which will be released at the upcoming WinHEC and PDC developer conferences over the next few weeks. The reason why probably makes sense, to someone, somewhere... ...

Windows 7 to be officially named... Windows 7
Engadget — ... Microsoft is expected to be handing out pre-betas of Windows 7 to devs at WinHEC and PDC soon, and it looks like it's settled on an official name for its next-gen OS -- ahem, Windows 7. Yep, the code name is the real name, which is a first for Windows. ...

Windows 7 will be officially Windows 7
I4U News — ... , Microsoft will give a first look onto Windows 7 and distribute Pre-Beta builds of Windows 7 to attending developers. I hope for Microsoft that they really took a fresh approach to Windows 7 that makes us forget about that there was a Vista along the way. More details on the Microsoft Windows Vista blog . Windows 7 is Windows 7
jkOnTheRun — ... Let's take the focus off the big Apple event today and share some news about those other big guys, Microsoft.  On the Microsoft Vista Team Blog Mike Nash has spilled the big beans that the next version of the Windows operating system, code named Windows 7, will officially be called...... drum roll please....  Windows 7.  Now if that isn't a shrewd marketing ploy.  Call the OS Windows 7 for months and months.  Then officially name it Windows 7. ...

Microsoft Announces Windows 7
GEARFUSE — ... Vista as it’s latest and greatest operating system. Sure, the company had briefly mentioned Windows 7 but it was just a codename and not much came out of it. Today, Microsoft is giving Windows 7 it’s official name and will be releasing developer betas soon. The official name of the next OS? Windows 7. Yup. Seems Microsoft was peachy with not changing the name since it’s the seventh Windows release. What do you think? Dumb name? Glad Vista is finally coming to an end ? Link

The next version of Windows is .. Windows 7
Krunker — ... Just in case some of you missed this at the beginning of the week (and yes, I know I’m a little late with this news report), Microsoft officially announced that the next version of Windows would in fact be called “Windows 7”. Yes, this means Windows 7 is named after the codename of the project and yes, this is the first time it’s ever happened for Windows.  According to Mike Nash of the Windows Vista Team Blog, the decision to call it Windows 7 boiled down to this: ...
