... One fix I wish they would implement: It's harder to place the cursor within text than it was in the old iPhone OS (could that be because of the new "oleophobic" screen?). Maybe somebody could try fixing that. Let's also hope the developers do something to improve the iPhone 3GS's speech recognition, which is laughably lame thus far.
Developers are getting the beta software and firmware now, but the official release date for the rest of us is unknown.

Smaller changes, like a vibration when you move icons, OpenGL and Qwartz improvements, APIs giving access to video editing have also been discovered. We’ll likely hear about more little tidbits to be found in the next iPhone OS update as developers do their poking around. There are also some improvements behind the scenes as well, including changes to OpenGL and Quartzand APIs will now allow third party app to not only access videos but also edit them.
MMS buttons are back for AT&T users, but they are non-functional on standard devices as with the early iPhone 3.0 Betas. Whether or not they will survive to the official release this time is another question.
