Global search coming to iPhone via Spotlight support
The beta version of 3.0 is available starting today to developers. iPhone 3.0 will ship this summer and will be free to all iPhone 3G owners out there. Original iPhone owners will also be able to use the 3.0 OS but will not be able to access all of the features. iPod touch owners will be able to upgrade to the new OS for $9.95.

Speaking of the iPhone 2G, the firmware should work great on it with the exception of MMS and Bluetooth support. Personally, I think that the new firmware will shore up many of my concerns with the current firmware. ... downside to note is that while the iPhone will now officially support data tethering, AT&T has not yet announced any plans to offer a data package that supports this. We can only hope that they will sometime in the near future.
The new 3.0 software will be available this summer free of charge to all iPhone users, which does include the original iPhone. As for those with an iPod Touch, you’ll have to shell out $10 for the privilege of upgrading your device.
